I retired after working as a teacher/headteacher in Durham County Schools for thirty-five years, teaching all ages from nursery to secondary. After retiring I studied for a degree in International Textiles and Surface Design and also becoming a Durham City Councillor and a Durham County Councillor.

My biggest interest within the Council is all areas concerning children. I am a member of The County Fostering Panel and all committees concerning children.

I am a governor of Newton Hall Infants School, Trinity Sports College, Aycliffe Special School and now Framwellgate Primary School replacing being a governor at Finchale Primary School.

I am also a member of Framwellgate Parish Council.
